Extra Fine Undyed Jumper

Sold Out

Extra fine undyed wool jumper, set in sleeves, v-neck. An easy not tight style, with a pattern that reminds me of lacework I love. The most beautiful wool that I often use for handknits, very soft against skin.

Every part of the process was done here in Aotearoa. The sheep live on a farm south of Ōtautahi. They started breeding coloured sheep in the 1980's, back then only white sheep were popular because their wool could be dyed. I had hoped to visit the farm and take photos but the sheep are lambing now and they don't like to be disturbed, which is understandable! I will go to visit them in 2024. This says so much to me about how the sheep are cared for.

The wool was already combed and then dropped off by the farmers son to the mill in Õtautahi where I had the wool worsted spun, then up to me in Tāmaki Makaurau. I had them knitted at a small knitwear manufacturer in Pakuranga.

Wool regulates your body temperature very well. It is warm in the cold, and cool in the heat and is breathable. A micron measures the diameter of a wool fibre. The smaller the micron, the more fine and soft.
